Supplipmenting Heat

I grew up in beautiful South America where my parents were missionaries.

  • I had a pretty cool childhood filled with lots of adventures that many children don’t get to experience.

I always thought that I would marry someone from the States and move back south to where my parents were. Well, I did end up going to college in the States and marrying the man of my dreams, but we didn’t move back down to South America with my family. Todd, my husband, had a really good job in the States, so we decided to stay in the U.S. We live in a really cute town way up North, and I love it! Something that totally hit me off guard though was getting used to the cold. I don’t remember even once having to use a heater as a child. Our house didn’t even have a furnace, and everything ran on electricity. Having to pay a gas and electric bill was super new to me. During the winter, our gas bill is outrageously high, so we decided to try and supplement some electric heat. We have solar panels on our house that make it much cheaper for us to use electricity than gas. We bought two electric space heaters, and they have saved us so much money, and the house is much warmer than it has ever been. Living way up North certainly has its cons, and one of them is the cold, but we have learned to stay quite warm and enjoy even the very coldest winter months!
