I got stuck messing with the woodstove
I have learned that when buying a house, the seller always tries to screw you.
It doesn’t matter if you know the person or you don’t, they want to get the best deal possible for them.
The person will make your life miserable over a few bucks. It is a horrible process buying a house. I hate the constant haggling and nitpicking over small things. The real estate agent just wants to make the biggest percentage possible. They are not incentivized to get you a good deal. They frequently unnecessarily jack up the price and tell you to bump up your offer when it isn’t needed. How mean is that? When I bought my house I spent way too much on it because I couldn’t get anyone to work with me. I also had a horrible seller. The guy took everything and left his garbage. What really angered me is that the guy had an ancient wood stove for a secondary heater. It wasn’t necessary to the house. I tried and tried to get the guy to remove that heater before the sale. I didn’t want to deal with it. I was willing to pay more money to not have to deal with that heating system. Nope, the first day I moved in I was greeted by that ugly heater. I ended up having to smash the brick pad it sat on, patch the ceiling it was vented to and call roofers to remove the stack on the house. I then had to sell the heater to the local HVAC company and fix my living room floor. It was a horrible process that I ended up being stuck with.
