Satisfied with window air conditioners
I was never overly interested in centralized air conditioning for my home.
After the especially long, cold winters and the need to keep the house sealed up tight, I look forward to opening the windows, freshening up the living environment and enjoying the breeze.
It’s a relief to avoid high utility bills for a few months. Plus, my family spends the majority of their time outdoors. We have a really comfortable patio area with a barbecue grill, an in-ground pool and a trampoline for the kids. My kids also like to ride their bikes, rollerblade and play soccer. My wife and I enjoy working on the lawn and gardens and relaxing on the patio. The only time the heat and humidity are a problem is at night. It can be just about impossible to sleep in an overheated, muggy environment. Since our summer season only lasts for two to three months, window air conditioners provide an easy and affordable solution. I was able to purchase a cooling unit for each bedroom at the local home improvement store. I looked for sales and found good quality models for under two hundred dollars each. The units are compact, lightweight and simple to install. They each include a cordless remote that allows adjustment of temperature, air direction and fan speed. Every bedroom can be set to an individual comfort preference without affecting the rest of the house. Despite the small size, the window air conditioners are powerful enough to cool down a sizable bedroom very quickly and effectively on a hot night. The air conditioners are surprisingly energy efficient. Since we only run them for a few hours, the cost of operation is negligible.
