Looking into a smart thermostat
The thermostat in my house is original to when my family moved in nearly twelve years ago.
Over the years, I’ve made extensive improvements to the interior and exterior of the property.
I’ve invested in new windows, remodeled the kitchen and both bathrooms, had a new roof put on and built a deck. Every single room has been painted. I’ve bought new rugs, new furniture and updated all of the light and plumbing fixtures. I’m not sure why it never occurred to me to replace the thermostat. The old plastic dial does its job. However, I’m not convinced that it provides an accurate reading. I am tired of needing to walk to the thermostat and manually make adjustments to temperature. I’ve started looking into the thermostats on the current market and I’m amazed by modern technology. Today’s smart thermostats are capable of learning a seven-day schedule and making automatic adjustments. Some models feature geofencing that tracks the locations of family members’ smartphones and raises and lowers temperature according to their location. Smart thermostats provide energy tracking, energy saving tips and alerts when it’s time to schedule maintenance. There are options that will even contact a specific HVAC contractor if there’s a problem with the heating or cooling system. I would love the ability to access features, adjust temperature and check up on the heating/cooling operation through an app on my phone. I’d no longer need to remember to adjust the thermostat before leaving for work in the morning. My family wouldn’t come home to an overheated or chilly house.
