Converting from oil to gas boiler is worth the cost
My hubby and I spent months checking real estate listings, consulting with agents and touring properties for sale.
After waiting so long to finally transfer our family out of an property in the neighborhood to the suburbs, we were unwilling to compromise.
My friend and I were looking for a safe city in a nice school district. Plenty of property, a two-car garage, four family rooms and at least two full washrooms were priorities. When we found the ideal property for sale within our price range, there was only one disadvantage. The boiler was an oil boiler. I very didn’t like the idea of having a gigantic, ugly tank resting in our backyard. I worried about leaks and the potential of running out of fuel. With the sub zero temperatures and long winters in our local area, going without heat isn’t an option. Scheduling fuel delivery was stressful and an aggravation. Plus, the boiler wasn’t overly efficient and struggled to keep up with demand. However, the reason we could afford such a large plot of land and an amazing property was because everything was super ancient. My friend and I needed to invest into a new stove, refrigerator, washer, dryer and water heater. The plumbing pipes, drains and fixtures needed to be replaced. The electrical panel and wires failed to meet safety codes and required updating. It took us nearly five years to finally replace the boiler. Converting from oil to natural gas and installing a brand new boiler was an high-priced project. It was honestly worth it. Not only is the property far more comfortable during the winter, however our monthly energy bills are considerably lower. Plus, I’ve noticed that the property stays cleaner and smells better.
