After the storm, we needed window replacements done.

We live in an area that gets a lot of severe storms.

These storms include high winds, with a lot of rain, snow, or even sleet. Last week, we had a storm that brought tree limbs down and thunder that shook us awake. I could hear the hail hitting our windows, and wondered how long it was going to be before one of the windows broke. I knew our upstairs windows were new window replacements, and the glass is literally shatterproof, so I didn’t worry. I wasn’t thinking about the windows in the basement. We had an old sliding glass door that led into the enclosed backyard. For ten years we had been talking about getting rid of the glass door and putting in a few windows and one large glass door. We had the window kits in the basement, but the glass door hadn’t yet been removed. When we got up in the morning, we could feel a blast of cold air coming up the open stairway. My husband went downstairs and I heard him call my name. I walked into the basement, and there was glass all over the floor. Hail had shattered the window, and we had to clean up the mess. It was time to do some window replacements and get rid of the old sliding glass door that was now virtually nonexistent. I called the general contracting company in town and asked when they could get rid of the sliding glass door, and give us one door and two large windows. Even if they installed cheap windows, we had already bought the heavy duty window replacement kits.
