The factory workers held a go-slow to demand an air purification system
I was rushing to work the other day because I was running late.
I had planned HVAC maintenance for my unit that morning, and though the HVAC technicians were on time and swift in providing the home services, my car would not start, so I had to request an uber.
On my way, the driver worked part-time at the timber factory and told me how they were holding a go-slow for a week to protest the poor air quality within the factory. They wanted the management to invest in an air quality system. He said because they would cut and smoothen the timber, the air would be full of debris from the wood, and many were developing respiratory issues. The HVAC unit at the factory had not been serviced for several months, and it seemed like it was straining and thus could not efficiently help with indoor comfort. I got the details of the timber factory management, and since I was just starting my HVAC company, I would send them a cold email. I did just that when I got to the office. The company contacted me the following day and requested I help tune up the existing unit and recommend an air purification system. I scheduled the tune-up, and later that day, my HVAC professionals and I were doing the duct cleaning and fixing the ductwork at the timber factory. The local contractors changed the air filters to increase indoor comfort. We also suggested a quality air cleaning unit, a decision that would have halted the go-slow. Meeting with the cab driver was by chance and benefitted both of us.
