New quality air conditioner for a smoke-damaged home
I am unsure what caused the smoke damage in our home because it happened long before we bought the property.
There was no significant fire, but the smoke did its fair share of damage.
We had to replace the ductwork; we wanted to return it with a quality air conditioner because the air quality in the house had been compromised. The damage was too extensive to perform the simpler air conditioning repair. We consulted an air conditioning technician to explore our options, especially on the best type of ductless HVAC installation for the entire house. The a/c serviceman told us he’d have to come to the house for a physical inspection before telling us anything more about any quality HVAC equipment option we could buy. The assessment was done the day after we made the first call to the air conditioning company. After the inspection, the air conditioning provider concluded that our best option would be a multi-split system. Given that we know nothing about the cooling industry or its practices, we did what most people in the internet age do: go to find out more about air conditioning online from people who’d made similar renovations. Someone claimed that HVAC maintenance is easier for them since they changed to the multi-split AC, which was encouraging, but the best of them was the idea that we could install an individual thermostat in each room with an AC. We eventually agreed to go ahead with the AC recommendation, and a year since we did the renovations, we have had no complaints about our decision.
