Calling the HVAC company myself
This promotion was one that I had been gunning for a long time. After a dozen years with the company, I was ready for the responsibility of running a regional office. I had traveled all over for the company so had actually been inside the commercial HVAC of this office before. I think I was up here on the training or something like that. All I remember is that it was cold. It was cold in a way that I had never experienced before. Where I came from, if we needed a bit of heating during the winter, the heat pump could handle it. I’d just flip the thermostat from cooling to heating and that was that. The heat pump would then make short work of whatever heating demand was at hand. That’s not the way it was when I first visited this regional office and I was so glad to get out there and back home to the south. And I think I was here less than three weeks. Now, I’m here for at least 3 or 4 years. I think that’s how long it will take me to turn this place around. I came up here in late last summer. The house I’m renting has some seriously outdated residential HVAC equipment. And the gas furnace in particular has needed attention too often. But the rental company keeps sending out their handyman and the gas furnace is never really fixed. Well, I had enough a few weeks ago and called the HVAC professionals myself. They sent out a certified HVAC technician who fixed the problem. But he told me that the gas furnace is way past its prime. So now that I’ve got six months under my belt in this office, I think I’ll start house hunting.
