The ceiling caved in because of the bathroom leak
My girlfriend and I were hanging out in my apartment.
I have an apartment on the second floor of the building.
There is one floor above me and one floor below me. I know my neighbor that lives directly below me, because he smokes recreational marijuana. We have hung out a couple of times. I thought there was a woman living in the apartment above me, but I didn’t know for sure until last weekend. My girlfriend and I were watching some videos on the TV when we heard a loud crash in the bedroom. I ran into the bedroom and I could see pieces of the ceiling all over the floor. The ceiling caved in because the bathroom above me was leaking. I could see directly into the bathroom. I called the maintenance number for the apartment building and I kept calling until I got someone on the phone. After I told the maintenance guy exactly what was happening, I called the manager of the apartment building too. I got moved to an entirely different apartment, because the problem turned out to be a leaking roof on the third floor apartment. The leak in the roof was above the bathroom. The roof leak caused the bathroom floor to soften and that’s why it fell to the ground. There were a lot of problems that needed to be fixed by the roofing contractor, plumbers, and the maintenance team. It was easier for me to move to another apartment. Since I have renters insurance, all of the items that were destroyed were replaced, and I got a check from the insurance company.
