The pool deck needed replacing in a major way

My sibling-in-law Max called last weekend and wanted to know what my hubby and I were going to do over the weekend.

Max was putting in a new pool.

Max was almost twenty years old, and it was going to cost as much for a new liner as for a new swimming pool. While putting up the new pool, he said the pool deck needed to be replaced. Max asked if my hubby would bring his tools and his expertise and help him replace the pool deck. My fiance said sure, so they set up the time when he was to show up. I stayed behind because I knew what it was going to be like at their house. The guys would work in the sun, working to replace the pool deck and drinking beer. Neither one of us wanted to be their barmaids or chief cooks, so Max and I put together a bunch of food in the living room and headed for the casino. There were four of us, and my friend and I were planning on having an enjoyable time. Unfortunately, Max and I all had consciences, and my friend and I were halfway to the casino when Max and I turned back. My friend and I were sure our fiances would work to replace the poolside deck, and they would forget to eat. When my friend and I got back to the house, Max and I found out how wrong my friend and I were. Instead of being where the pool deck needed to be replaced, the men were playing horseshoes, and enjoying food and beer. The pool deck had barely been started, and they were all getting drowsy from the food, beer, and sun. Max and I knew my friend and I shouldn’t have left them alone.
