The replacement roofer looked to be 11 or twelve years old.

When my friends and I spoke to the roofers, my friend and I met the people who were supposed to be at the property while my friends and I were at work.

  • When I got to my home that afternoon, there were only 2 roofers on the roof, and one looked to be 11 or twelve years old.

I was talking to Ed, the foreman, and Ed told me two of the roofers got ill and had to go home. They had to bring in a replacement roofer or Ed would need to go home. Ed couldn’t work on the roof without someone else with him. It would be a safety concern. I understood all about working safely, however was it safe to work with a young boy. Ed looked at me oddly and asked who I was talking about. I pointed to the lad who was working on the roof. Ed told me that was his son, and he was almost twenty-five years old, and had been working for this roofing corporation for almost ten years. I didn’t believe Ed, however he was taking responsibility for the young roofer while he was at the house. Ed was a licensed and bonded roofer, and I would not be held responsible if something happened to the boy. When my daughter came home, she was gleeful to see the young person on the roof. She told me how she had gone to college with him, and it would be nice to talk to him unless he had to rush out when they got done with the roof. I told her I thought the replacement roofer looked like he was twelve years old, and my daughter laughed. She said he was almost a year older than she was.
