The furnace got waterlogged last week

Last week at our church, the furnace got torn up because of some water issues that we ended up having in the church basement.

We had a leak that happened with the hot water tank down there and it ended up causing all kinds of problems for us.

I could not believe what a mess the basement of the church was in when I went in there to check it out last week. It was really terrible. The worst part about the whole thing was the fact that it ruined all of the carpet and that, in turn, ruined the furnace. The furnace down there in the church basement wasn’t even all that old, either! We had just had it installed by our commercial HVAC company a couple of years ago and so losing that was a big pain, too. We called the insurance company and they let us know that they are going to be covering the cost of a new furnace for the building, so at least that’s one good thing. They won’t cover the cost of the carpet for some reason. There’s something in the contract about how they will only cover damages to concrete and tile floors, but not wood floors or carpet. I don’t know why in the world that would be an issue, but it’s right there in black and white so I’m not going to argue about it. Anyway, we have a call into our commercial HVAC company and they are supposed to be coming to replace the furnace sometime before the end of the week. It’s a good thing too, because we are supposed to have another spring cold snap next week.
