A Crack in The Heat Exchanger
My wife was really skeptical about installing a gas furnace instead of an eclectic furnace.
We went back and forth, debating the positives and negatives to each option.
Ultimately, the HVAC company sided with me and agreed that a gas furnace was the best way to heat our home. They assured my wife that everything would be fine and if we followed basic safety protocols, then there was no need to worry about gas leaks or other horrible mishaps. My wife was still uneasy about the gas furnace, but she agreed to install it anyway. We always have our HVAC system serviced three times per year by an HVAC professional, because it’s the best way to ensure that our gas furnace is still running safely. We had an HVAC professional at our house yesterday and while he was examining the gas furnace, he confronted me and told me about a crack in the heat exchanger. He said it was a serious issue because the crack could expand, causing unwanted gasses to enter our home. There was no reason for a crack to be on the heat exchanger when the gas furnace was so new and thankfully, it was still under warranty. The HVAC company was happy to replace it for me, but I was very adamant that they only contact me about the replacement. If my wife found out about the crack, she’d panic and insist that we get an eclectic furnace instead. Thankfully, the HVAC professional had caught it right away and there were no greater issues. What she doesn’t know won’t hurt her.
