At least the HVAC was better at home

I did my best to stay living on my own but it was obvious that was just not sustainable.

Moving back in with one’s parents is not an easy thing to do. And for me, it was quite a shocking turn of events. I think my parents were also quite surprised. Out of all their children, I was the baby but the most achievement driven. I was the sort of kid who stayed inside the central air conditioning on a Friday night to study more. But all that studying got me into a great school on a full ride. That sure made my parents happy. And I saved them even more money by living in the dorm for four years. That was four winters of dealing with almost uncontrollable radiant heating. But it was all so worth it. I came out of college with a very good degree and was picked up by just the right firm I was hoping for. This firm was where I interned for a couple of summers before graduating. I had only been working inside the zone controlled HVAC of those wonderful offices for about 3 years before the pandemic hit. Of course, in most businesses when it comes to layoffs, the last one in is the first one out. I worked remotely for a couple of months inside the air conditioning of my apartment. But ultimately I was laid off and not hired back. I did my best to stay living on my own but it was obvious that was just not sustainable. So I moved home with my folks to enjoy the awesome central air conditioning in that house. My parents just upgraded the residential HVAC to include a whole bunch of HVAC technology as well. I was really lucky to have this time with my parents and I think that they felt the same way.
