Converting from oil to gas boiler is worth the cost
My husband and I spent months checking real estate listings, consulting with agents and touring properties for sale.
After waiting so long to finally transport our family out of an loft in the city to the suburbs, my buddy and I were unwilling to compromise.
My associate and I were looking for a safe village in a good university district. Plenty of property, a two-car garage, four dining rooms and at least two full washrooms were priorities. When my buddy and I found the ideal loft for sale within our price range, there was only one negative. The heating system was an oil heater. I really didn’t like the idea of having a gigantic, ugly tank kneeling in our backyard. I distraught about leaks and the potential of running out of fuel. With the sub zero temperatures and long winters in our local area, going without heat isn’t an option. Scheduling fuel delivery was stressful and an aggravation. Plus, the boiler wasn’t overly efficient and struggled to keep up with demand. However, the reason my buddy and I could afford such a large plot of land and an amazing loft was because everything was super old. My associate and I needed to invest into a new stove, refrigerator, washer, dryer and water heater. The plumbing pipes, drains and fixtures needed to be updated. The electrical panel and wires failed to meet safety codes and required updating. It took us nearly five years to finally update the heater. Converting from oil to natural gas and installing a brand new boiler was an costly project. It was honestly worth it. Not only is the loft far more comfortable during the winter, however our weekly energy bills are considerably lower. Plus, I’ve observed that the loft stays cleaner and smells better.
