Following my sister’s moving checklist and her insistence on air quality assessment
Does anybody else have a moving checklist? I swear my sister acts like an old lady.
I invited her to help me with packing and moving to my newly purchased house, and she brought a folder with checklists of things we needed to do.
It was a bit obsessive, but she saved me from a disaster for the HVAC unit. It was a week before moving, and according to Jeanne, the genius, I needed to ensure that my new home had everything that would help with indoor comfort. We went over to the house to check on some of the things that I’d needed to be installed and repaired by the local contractor, fully armed with my sister’s list. My sister had made air quality a priority on the checklist. The house needed a quality HVAC unit, fully equipped with an air purification system. Luckily, the previous owners had installed them because they had children, so I didn’t need to spend. She asked the contractor about HVAC maintenance, especially since there had been a lot of building work in the house, but the servicing had not been done. She didn’t need to ask anything more about the air quality systems in the house because it was clear that we needed to do it within the week before I moved in. Our next stop was the local HVAC company, where we paid for emergency home service ductwork inspection. We expected that the HVAC technician would check for faults and change the air filter, but we needed duct cleaning to deal with accumulated dirt in the system. We mentioned the intention to move in within a few days, but the HVAC professional assured us they’d be done in two days, which is pure convenience!
