I Didn’t Turn Off The HVAC System Before Replacing The Air Filter

I forgot to turn off the HVAC equipment, so when I took the dirty air filter out, a lot of dust and debri started blowing around

This is the first home I’ve ever owned before and with that came a lot of challenges. I had to learn how to mow my grass, how to pull weeds, and how to maintain my HVAC system. Thankfully, I knew how to hire an HVAC professional to come service my HVAC system for me twice per year. I typically hired an HVAC professional during the Fall and the Spring because those were the times I was switching between my furnace and air conditioner. I didn’t know anything about HVAC equipment and I had no interest in learning, which is why the HVAC professional was essential. I didn’t care how much I had to pay because I wasn’t willing to do it myself. During one of my HVAC appointments, the HVAC professional told me that it would be helpful to replace my air filter in between my appointments. The air filters I was using were filling up quickly and allowing dust and debri to enter the air in my home. The congested air filter was also causing my HVAC system to run less efficiently. He showed me how to replace the air filter and I was grateful. However, when I tried to replace it on my own without the HVAC professional’s supervision, I made a big mistake. I forgot to turn off the HVAC equipment, so when I took the dirty air filter out, a lot of dust and debri started blowing around. The HVAC professional made it look so easy. It took me 30 minutes after I had to clean up my mess when it only took him 5 minutes.
