I’m not a certified as an HVAC tech
I never chose to become a handyman, I sort of fell into it. I grew up in a poor family, and my parents taught myself and my siblings how to get the most out of everything we had. My good friend and I never threw out food or donated used clothes. My folks would repurpose the old leftovers into new meals, and darn all of the damaged clothes to make them savor new again. In other words, I respected the value of a dollar. This is the reason why I taught myself to service anything around the house that would break. I could never afford to call a handyman, a roofer, a painter, or an HVAC tech. If I couldn’t work on something myself then it did not get fixed. I will admit that HVAC service is not my strongest suit, but I still think a few tricks and trips for furnaces and a/cs; Since I could never afford to spend my money a pro to do the job, any air conditioning or furnace service that needed to be done had to be done by me. After a while word got around to my friends and neighbors, who asked if I would look at their HVAC systems when they had any concerns. I was more than cheerful to help my friends for free, because I honestly was not an expert in heating or cooling repair, but they constantly insisted on paying me. After a few weeks it slowly evolved into being my full-time job. To be honest with you, little of my work revolves around heating and cooling systems, but it does come up from time to time. My strength honestly lies in carpentry.
