In the Deep South my good friends and I rely on our a/c systems
Living down south is not for wimps.
It takes a man made of sterner stuff to survive in the swamp-filled southeastern corner of the nation, then for example, consider the bug population for a moment.
In this area my good friend and I have wasps, bees, hornets, sixteen various breeds of ants, centipedes, spiders, millipedes, mosquitos, gnats, and palmetto bugs, which is what my good friend and I call the massive winged cockroaches… Even with weekly pest control services, this is a truly buggy site. The insects thrive down here because of the exhausting heat and humidity which plagues us for most of the year. It is utterly essential to have my central HVAC system checked and tuned up at least twice each year, because I can’t go for a single day separate from a/c. Although temp control is important, it is just as vital to maintain clean, clear indoor air conditions. Think of it this way – because of all the bugs and the stifling humidity, it’s rare that I can open up the house to get natural ventilation. With no natural ventilation, the house starts to slowly get more stale and rank due to the recycled air. This means that HVAC duct cleanings and proper HEPA air filter replacements are vital to maintaining a healthy household. This is also why air conditioning is so vital down here. air conditioning not only protects our comfort levels, but it can enhance the quality of life, and of the air my good friends and I breathe. Whenever the outdoor temps do normalize for a few days, I make sure to open up the whole place for natural ventilation, which constantly makes such an immense difference.
