Online shopping and seeing HVAC advertisements
I am the type of person that likes to beat the crazy crowds in stores during the holidays.
My family is pretty big and for Christmas we will all get together to have a nice dinner and exchange presents.
There is about 14 of us so I like to buy many presents. These presents are for ages ranging from 2 months to 70 years old. I love to give presents and seeing my family members reactions when they open them. Therefore since I like to avoid stores during the holidays, I will do most of my shopping online. I was looking for a special toy that my little niece wanted the other day and when I went back on my computer I saw the toy being advertised to me on the right hand side of my screen. I realized that this type of advertising is consumer targeted based on consumer’s searching history. I think that it’s a little invasive of my personal spending habits. I saw this another time when I was looking for HVAC filters for my HVAC system. I like to purchase my air filters in bulk online for a discounted price. The next day I went on my computer and saw that the air filter website that I was on the day before, was showing me other air filters on the same website that was for sale. I do not like how marketers do this, I think that is a little creepy and I do not want my products that I purchased or viewed to be marketed to me again. However it is beneficial for this HVAC company when it comes to their profits.
