Replacing my furnace after owning it for over 20 years
I have been living in my home for quite some time now.
I believe it has been almost 30 years that I have been living in my home.
It is still a fairly young house. The equipment however is not so young. Last week I had to replace my furnace. I had no idea it needed to even be replaced. I had never had any issue with it. It never broke down on me and I always received tune ups. In no way was I ready to think that the furnace needed to be replaced. I noticed in my home that my living room was awfully warm. It was as warm as I was keeping the thermostat probably. When I would transition into the kitchen, I noticed it get cooler but then parts of the kitchen would feel a bit warmer. I felt warmer by the far corner near the garbage and my fridge. The hallway in my house seemed like it was cold and warm, cold and then warm. It was like a never ending cycle. Never did my house feel like it was all one perfect temperature. Not only did I notice that about my house, but I also noticed that my energy bills were higher than they had been before. I had never paid such high energy bills. This is when I figured I must call an HVAC company near to me. They explained that this is a common occurrence. Furnaces usually only last about 15 years. If you still have a furnace after that, it means you took good care of it. Mine was well over that age though. It was just starting to get old and I needed to receive a new one.
