Taught to use a multi-split air conditioning system by the a/c serviceman
My roommate and I moved to a new apartment in our neighborhood. The marketing information included a claim that they had the best HVAC installation in the cooling industry. We didn’t pay much attention to that because our interest in the houses was due to the large rooms, which was enough assurance that the air quality would be reasonable and not stuffy. We should have paid attention because we realized we had no idea how to work around the quality air conditioner in the house. The owners had left us a contact list with various service providers, including the a/c serviceman, and we knew that was the only way we’d learn to handle the thermostat and other features that our last house did not have. We were used to a central HVAC, but our new home was equipped with a multi-split air conditioning system which appeared to run independently for every room. The outdoor compressor part of our apartment’s quality HVAC equipment was placed outside the balcony’s back rooms. We needed to know if we had to do any HVAC maintenance or if it was all on the air conditioning technician. We called the air conditioning company, who agreed to send an air conditioning provider to help us, and we had to pay nothing because it would take a short time. The technician showed up early in the morning on their way to handle an air conditioning repair call and showed us how to set the thermostats and place the louvers for heating and cooling. It was a short thirty-minute visit, but we learned more about air conditioning than we’d ever had the chance to. It may be how we make new friends in the neighborhood, helping new neighbors learn about their ACs if they are clueless like we were.
