The Air Quality Was Bad

Typically, I like to have my Heating and A/C system serviced before I switch from my AC system to my furnace.

This doesn’t always happen due to timing and this year was no exception.

I had tied up my Heating and A/C tune up for the following week and I hoped that the weather would remain mediocre until then. Unluckyly, a random cold drop blew in before my Heating and A/C tune up and my only options were to freeze in my own house or turn on the furnace. I decided on the latter opening and prayed that nothing would go wrong in the meantime! After running the furnace overnight, I noticed that the air quality was off. There was a musty stink and I assumed it was because my furnace had sat unused during the entire Spring and summer. After another two afternoons passed, the air quality wasn’t getting better. I took note of the poor air quality and promised myself that I’d bring it up to the Heating and A/C professional when she came to tune my Heating and A/C system. I’m gleeful I did because the Heating and A/C professional was able to diagnose a few concerns. First, my air filter needed to be updated. The blocked air filter was reducing air flow. She also said that the ductwork needed to be cleaned. They were filled with dirt and debri, which was causing the air in my home to stink musty. The Heating and A/C professional was particular that once the air filter was updated and the ductwork cleaned, the air quality would improve dramatically.
