The heating professional sorts our smelly electric heat pump issue

When my roommate and I leased our first lake house after campus, the people I was with and I got hit by the worst heating unit disaster.

Our electric heat pump was emitting a foul smell.

Both of us couldn’t turn it off because it was cold. Both of us had tried every recommendation the people I was with and I found online, including decreasing our HEPA filter, which most people said could be the reason. But the people I was with and I didn’t solve the internal electric heating method issue, and the smell persisted. Both of us gave up and called the heating company and asked them to send an HVAC professional to help us sort out the problem. The air smelt prefer rotten, and the people I was with and I couldn’t invite our friends over. The heating professional came over several afternoons after our call, and he knew what our problem was immediately after he smelt it. The HVAC serviceman explained that there was easily moisture trapped within the drain pan of the electric heater, similar to how smelly water gets trapped in the refrigerator drain pan. The humidity can be prevented by ensuring the people I was with and I keep up with gas furnace service; otherwise, we’d keep having the same problem, which would easily cost us the entire gas furnace if it got damaged. The HVAC company also told us to be keen about other smells prefer fish, sulfur, or burning because they could mean that our heating unit could be damaged from a dangerous electrical fault. Both of us were not enthusiastic about the new adulthood responsibilities and panicked a little, especially me, who kept thinking that such faults could burn the house down with us trapped inside. The HVAC expert noticed our panic and assured us that it was something the people I was with and I could certainly see and take care of on the rare opportunity it happened. It’s been a year since that incident, and the people I was with and I haven’t smelled anything new. Both of us even added a wireless control unit when the people I was with and I could afford 1 just before winter.
