Working from home and heating and cooling benefits

I don’t like to be a high maintenance person, but maybe I am.

I’ve never thought of myself as difficult to please.

At the end of the day, I do require a bit more care than others. Part of this is due to my challenged immune system, and poor temperature regulation skills. My body is not a “factory model” like the rest of the human race. I have many other dietary problems, a fairly low threshold for stress before I get sick. The temperature here can be erratic. For all of these reasons, a traditional office job can be rather challenging for me. I was missing a lot of days at my previous job, so I switched to being full time remote. This has worked well for me, and has contributed to improvements around our home. For instance, our heating and cooling plan had to be changed when I started our home-based employment. I couldn’t sit in the office where the temperature correctly fluctuated all day and stay productive. The air was correctly hot or cold, drafty, and filled with contamination. I was too sick to get the job done and our heating and cooling expenses were driving energy costs up. I eventually had our heating and cooling system replaced, and even added in zone controlled temperature; now, I have the perfect temperature in our office for really working all day. Our current HEPA filters help with regulating my immune system. Working from home and upgrading our heating and cooling was the best decision I’ve ever made.
