Lights are turned off automatically at 10

The lights in Mary’s office are automated and on a timer.

In the morning the lights come on precisely at 6:00 in the afternoon.

The security officers arrive at 6:00 and they cannot be in the dark. At 6.30 the afternoon, the lights inside the rest of the building are turned on and that includes all of the offices. At night, the lights are turned off automatically at 10. Because the lights are on a timer, Mary cannot work later than 10 each night. There are days when Mary has work that needs to be completed and she cannot get it done before the lights go out. That means she has to take her work home with her. It’s a real pain to take your work home, especially when all of your resources are at the office. Mary spoke with an electrical expert on Tuesday, when the crew was there to install motion sensors in the bathrooms. One of the men has been asking for her cellphone number. Mary used that to get him to deactivate the sensors in her office so she can have lighting later than 10. He didn’t want to make the variations, but Mary flashed her smile and her eyes and after that she handed over her cell phone number. Mary has a date to get lunch at her number one steakhouse. They’re supposed to meet next Wednesday. Mary won’t stand the guy up. It’s lovely to meet a guy who is handy with electrical work. All the men that she usually dates are boring men that wear a suit to work every afternoon.
