Surprisingly, your moods can be affected by the temperature

Sitting in front of a fireplace or in a home with central heat can make you feel less sad, and even putting your feet on radiant heated floors can boost your mood

One of the things I have noticed since I moved to the south, is that people get angrier when it is seriously warm outside. I noticed this at first in my career as an educator, physical fights at school seemed to increase during the months with warm and humid weather. I also noticed this with adults, and where I live people are nice, move at a slow and relaxed pace, and normally do not honk the horn or rush things, but however, in the Summer the outcome is often different. I have noticed that people want to get out of the heat so they get really miserable, however air conditioning can help people be less miserable in the summer. If you have ever felt miserable for no reason when it is hot out, openings are you just need to cool down in the air conditioner. When I lived up north, I noticed that people got more depressed in the cold months. When it gets dark early and it hurts your face to just walk outside, it can make you feel really isolated and sad. Sitting in front of a fireplace or in a home with central heat can make you feel less sad, and even putting your feet on radiant heated floors can boost your mood. If you notice that the air conditioner and heat are not helping you feel better in the Summer and winter, you may be experiencing seasonal depression. If you are experiencing seasonal depression, your doctor will be able to help come up with a program to help you get through the drastic heat and cold.
